Ex-Jeep boss is taking over Nissan

Nissan has had a turbulent year.

Sales are down, the company is behind on hybridization, and recent reports indicate the brand has "12 to 14 months" left in business.

Not good.

But the latest hire could be the first step in the right direction for a potential turnaround.

It is known that Nissan has brought Christian Meunier to lead, Telegraph reports.

Meunier was previously global chief executive for the Jeep brand and served on the executive committee for Stellantis.

Prior to that, he worked at Nissan in multiple roles since 2002, including as chairman and global president of Infiniti.

Now, Meunier returns to the company as president of North and South America, heading both the Nissan and Infiniti brands.

He will replace Jeremie Papin, who will be named the automaker's chief financial officer.

"I will work with the team to get the business back on track," Meunier said.

Otherwise, he left Jeep in November 2023 amid sluggish sales.

Meunier begins his new role with Nissan on January 1, 2025. /Telegraph/
