British firm JD Sports says that in previous cyber attacks, hackers have accessed their customers' data

British sports and fashion retailer JD Sports Fashion has been the victim of a cyber attack in which customer data relating to historical online orders was compromised, it said on Monday.

The group said the data affected was "limited", as it does not store full bank card details and did not believe hackers had accessed account passwords.

The attack was linked to online orders made by brands JD, Size?, Millets, Blacks, Scotts and MilletSport between November 2018 and October 2020, reports Reuters, Telegrafi reports.

JD Sports said the information the hackers accessed included customer names, shipping and billing addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, order details and the last 4 bank card numbers of nearly 10 million of its customers.

The group apologized to customers and is contacting those affected by this attack to advise them to be alert to the risk of fraud and phishing attacks.

They are also investigating the incident, working with cyber security experts and engaging alongside the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the country's data protection watchdog.

Cyber attacks on UK companies are becoming more and more common. /Telegraph/
