Things that seem harmless can cost you a lot in Germany.

The question of whether household items such as knives or spoons can be left in the car seems trivial at first glance. However, the reality looks different.

In Germany there are clear rules and obligations that affect the transport of everyday items. In particular, keeping certain household items in the vehicle may result in legal consequences, namely fines of up to 10 euros.

First, drivers are required to properly secure their cargo. This applies not only to heavy items, but also to seemingly innocuous things like grocery shopping or vehicle decorations.

In the event of a traffic accident, an unsecured object can pose a serious risk, both for the passengers in the vehicle and for other road users, the German media write.

Furthermore, leaving a knife in a car is prohibited and involves legal risks. Certain types of knives, such as butterfly knives, folding knives, knives with a fixed blade longer than 12 centimeters and those considered weapons, are prohibited in the vehicle.

If the police discover such knives during a search, heavy fines can be imposed. These rules apply not only to the car, but also to the public transport of these items. Exceptions exist only for professional or special reasons that justify carrying a knife.

In addition to knives, other objects in the car can also pose a danger. In these cases, there is no fine, but there can still be significant damages. For example, experts warn not to leave electronic devices such as laptops, phones or tablets in the car, as they can be damaged or cause a fire. /Telegraph/
