Explodes in England because of Harry Kane's statement

Harry Kane is facing a backlash after criticizing some of his England team-mates for their behavior towards the national team.

The 31-year-old striker expressed his disappointment with several Three Lions players this week after a number of them withdrew from the squad ahead of Thursday's crucial Nations League clash with Greece.

Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Cole Palmer, Levi Colwill, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Aaron Ramsdale all withdrew from the squad through injury - leaving caretaker manager Lee Carsley with an unknown group of players for this month's matches against Greece and Ireland.

Speaking to ITV Sport, Kane was asked to name one thing former manager Gareth Southgate brought to the national team that the Bayern Munich striker and other senior players needed to ensure was not lost.

"I think the joy of playing for England, I think he brought it back," Kane said.

Every huddle, people were excited to come, every huddle people wanted to play for England and, yes, that's the most important thing. I think England is ahead of everything.

Asked if that mentality has changed since Southgate's departure - with new manager Thomas Tuchel not set to start until 2025 - Kane added: "It's a shame in this crowd."

The Daily Mail have now reported that Kane's comments have not been well received by some England players.

It is said that "there has been a significant degree of annoyance from the England players' representatives", who have insisted that "the withdrawals are for genuine reasons". /Telegraph/
