A serious incident was recorded in the early hours of this morning on the Durrës-Tirana highway, where two people who had stolen a vehicle and then violently robbed a gas station in Sukth clashed with the Police.
According to the official announcement, the perpetrators were identified by the Durrës Police services, who were pursuing the stolen vehicle. During the attempt to quickly flee, the two individuals opened fire on the blue uniformed officers.
The police responded with fire under the necessary protection conditions, and as a result, one of the perpetrators, Ardit Domi, 28 years old, resident of Bilalas, Shijak, was injured, who was immediately taken to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana and is out of danger.
The other perpetrator, Lorenc Çali, 27 years old, resident of Bilalas, after armed resistance to the police officers, was neutralized and put in handcuffs.
A Kalashnikov automatic firearm with two clips of ammunition, used by both men during the chase, was seized at the scene.
The incident occurred at around 01:00, near the roundabout of the overpass in Vora, where the perpetrators' vehicle went off the road due to speed. In addition to the Durrës Police, support services from the Tirana DVP were also involved in the operation.
Under the direction of the Prosecution, the Sector for the Investigation of Crimes against the Person and Property at the Durrës Police Department has begun work to fully document the event and the criminal activity of the perpetrators. /tch/
