Endri Thaçi's emotional speech: They didn't let Dad throw a punch at Drenica, but in his place today came Kosovo, Albania, Macedonia and the Valley

Under the intonation of the national anthem and with a minute of silence, the commemorative gathering began to honor the figure of the now deceased, Haxhi Thaçi, father of former president, Hashim Thaçi. 

Hashim Thaçi's son, Endriti, delivered an emotional speech at this commemorative meeting for his grandfather, Haxhi Thaçi.

He thanked everyone for their support, saying that the grandfather's hope to meet his son, Hashim Thaçi, was greater than the pain of illness.

"Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your condolences and touching words. On behalf of the Thaçi family, on behalf of my father, I thank you for your support. We are grateful to everyone. Grandpa never gave up in the face of illness. The hope of meeting my father and his comrades in the Hague was greater than the pain of illness. Faith was greater than the unjust indictment. In recent months, he waited every hour for the hospital door to open for him, he did not give up and came back to life several times. Three hours of conversation that day, they made a life, both father and son. Both sought freedom, liberation," he said.

He also said that he saw his grandfather's sudden death on his father's face when he left the hospital.

"He survived all the suffering that we went through as a people. But these 4 years he did not survive the pain of injustice. An incurable disease for strong people. He dies without being crowned, as he used to say. Grandpa, we are not crowned today either. Unfortunately, they did not allow my father to say his last goodbye with us today, they did not allow him to throw a handful of Drenica soil at him, but instead of my father, Kosovo, Albania, Macedonia and the Valley have come today," said Endriti.

The mayor of Skenderaj, Fadil Nura, also shared a touching message about the deceased and his last moments.

"In these moments of grief for the Thaçi family as they will be escorted to their final resting place, we share the pain with mother Hyrë and President Thaçi, the sons and daughters of Uncle Haxhi. We greeted them with a shared embrace, along with the longing we had for Hashim and Burojë. Unfortunately, that day he returned to fight death, but he did not give up. He resisted until he extinguished the longing to see his son. Seeing his son, he squeezed his hand tightly and closed his eyes, relieved forever, to return today and extinguish the other longing, Burojë, with the fresh air, the beautiful flowers, among the hundreds and thousands of flowers of freedom," said Nura.

Otherwise, today, in honor of the figure and life of Haxhi Thaçi, many citizens, politicians and delegations from all over Albania are participating. /Telegraph/
