The diaspora voter registration process for the May 11 parliamentary elections closed on March 4, with a record number of applications from Albanians abroad.
According to the Central Election Commission, 365,166 requests have been registered so far, while over 234 have been processed.
Currently, 18 applications are still being reviewed. Based on previous electoral turnout, the diaspora vote is expected to represent around 15% of the total electorate.
Interesting facts from the diaspora registration process:
The first application was made from Germany, just 8 minutes after the system opened.
The 98-year-old from Germany is the oldest registered voter.
An Albanian citizen has applied 25 times to register as an overseas voter, succeeding on his last attempt.
Registration of parties and coalitions with the CEC:
53 parties have registered for the parliamentary elections.
The number of registered coalitions is 3.
The Together Movement is the only party that has submitted a list of candidates for MPs.
The deadline for submitting candidate lists ends on March 12, while the main political entities are expected to announce their names in the coming days. /euronews.al/
