Democratic Party of Kosovo MP, Blerta Deliu-Kodra, has stated that this party has always respected the decisions of the Constitutional Court and that even in this case it will await the final decision regarding the decree on the dissolution of the Assembly.

In an appearance on the "Five" show on TV Dukagjini, Deliu-Kodra emphasized that PDK constitutional experts considered President Vjosa Osmani's decree to dissolve the Parliament to be fair.

"The PDK, both during its time in power and during its time in opposition, has been in full compliance with the decisions of the Constitutional Court. Of course, our expectations are to wait for the final decision on issues that have already required treatment by the Constitutional Court. You know that we have upheld Mrs. Osmani's decree. PDK experts who deal with constitutional issues have considered it right. The fact that all possibilities within the Parliament have been exhausted to elect the country's president and that the country is heading, in these created circumstances, towards extraordinary elections," said the PDK MP.

Days ago, the Constitutional Court imposed a temporary measure until March 31st against President Osmani's decree to dissolve the Assembly, prohibiting any action by the president and the Assembly until the measure is in force. According to the court's decision, the measure aims to prevent irreparable damage to the constitutional order and the democratic functioning of institutions.

This situation came after the March 5 session to elect a president was interrupted due to lack of quorum, after being abandoned by opposition parties. The following day, President Osmani issued a decree dissolving the Assembly and began consultations with political parties on a date for early elections.

Deliu-Kodra said that PDK was not interested in the country heading towards elections, adding that this party has attempted to contribute to finding a political solution that would avoid such a situation.

She has blamed the Vetëvendosje Movement for the political situation that, according to her, is leading the country towards extraordinary elections.

According to her, under normal circumstances, a parliamentary majority that has received significant citizen support should ensure institutional stability and not lead the country towards new elections.

"Under normal circumstances, of a parliamentary majority that behaves in relation to the needs of the citizens, in relation to the citizen support it has received, 51 percent. Which is primarily interested in the institutional stability of Kosovo. So that the country does not stagnate. The issue of elections should absolutely not even be discussed. We have not anticipated such a situation. Even if I can say that PDK has been extremely constructive throughout, since the first meetings of Mr. Hamza with Mr. Kurti, several meetings have been held to discuss how we can avoid elections. And if Mr. Kurti has the political will to avoid elections, which have already become a burden not easy for the citizens", Deliu-Kodra added.
