The deputy of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Xhavit Haliti, has severely criticized Prime Minister Albin Kurti for not coordinating with the international community regarding the opening of the Ibri Bridge in Mitrovica.
Haliti has described the Kurti Government's action as an "electoral adventure," stressing that a unilateral opening of the bridge can incite tensions that will be followed by measures against the country.
During the week, inspections were carried out on the Ibri bridge by the Kosovar authorities, with the aim of opening it for vehicle traffic. However, the QUINT countries and the United States of America have expressed reservations about this step, stressing that they do not support the opening of the bridge at this time.
The KFOR peacekeeping mission has warned that it is ready to take all the necessary measures to prevent any development that could undermine regional security and stability.
"The Government of Kosovo, respectively the Prime Minister and the Minister of the Interior, are making electoral adventures".
KFOR's statement is clear... it is considered according to them, the unilateral opening of the bridge is an action that encouraged others to act and this would be an escalation of police clashes with citizens and EULEX and KFOR can necessarily be implicated . I don't believe that the Kosovo Police are crazy enough to throw stones at them, to remove them. It is a danger for the future of Kosovo", said Haliti in Dukagjin's "FIVE".
Haliti emphasized that Kurti's lack of coordination with the international community could lead to new measures against Kosovo.
"I see that (Kurti) is encouraged from all sides, telling him that he does not dare. Tell our people you don't dare, he keeps trying to say he dares and I'm brave. If you act and harm the interest of Kosovo, your bravery is multiplied by adventure and public denunciation and maybe more. That is why I am saying that a politician who does not decide strategically with his head and in the interest of Kosovo is not a politician... I believe that the international community also believes in the possible reasonableness of Kurti, if not, I foresee additional measures towards Kosovo and to the Government of Kosovo", added Haliti in Dukagjin's "FIVE".
In Dukagjin's "FIVE", Haliti has warned that if the Kosovo Police tries to oppose KFOR and implement political orders for the opening of the bridge, Kosovo may face serious economic and political consequences.
"... The Kosovo Police should not oppose KFOR in any case. The police should no longer follow political orders in this case. Because Kosovo itself will have serious consequences.
There will be economic and political consequences. There will be no more killings on the ground, no arrests either. They will remove the stones and KFOR will place them in half an hour", said Haliti, among other things. /Dukagjin/
