The BBC has apologized to users after its weather app incorrectly showed forecasts of "hurricane force" winds near London and temperatures above 400C in Nottingham.

BBC weather forecasters were quick to point out the issue, and to make it clear that the inaccurate graphics are getting better, the Telegraph reports.

"Oops, don't be alarmed by our [BBC Weather app] data this morning," BBC Weather presenter and chief meteorologist Simon King wrote on X.

"Rest assured that there will be no 14,408 mph winds, hurricane force winds or 404 degree temperatures overnight. It is being looked at and hopefully resolved as soon as possible," he added.

King said he believes the graphic may have caused "confusion", especially with Hurricane Milton bringing dangerous winds to parts of Florida in the US. /Telegraph/
