"Conflicting, political monster, political terrorist", Haxhiu says he is facing derogatory language during his run for parliamentary speaker

Kosovo Assembly Member from the Vetëvendoshe Movement, Albulena Haxhiu, who failed to receive enough votes to be elected Speaker of Parliament three times in a row, said that she has faced harsh language in recent days from other parties.

In a statement to the media after the closing of today's constitutive session, she said that the LVV has a lot of will to move forward, but other parties cannot impose their names as candidates for Speaker of the Assembly.

She also said that she is concerned about the derogatory language being used against her, as she said this language discourages other women from getting involved in politics.

"What I have faced during this time, 'is a divisive figure, is conflictual, is a political monster, is a political terrorist, is a deranged species'. First of all, this language is unacceptable, not only towards me, but towards anyone. My concern is that this denigrating, misogynistic, sexist language discourages women from getting involved in politics because when they see the filth of women, today me, yesterday Mimoza, etc., of course they then think twice or three times about getting involved in politics. I have never had a unifying function," she said.

Haxhiu said that she has never had a unifying function and that she is proud of her actions in her political career.

"I have been a member of Parliament for more than 10 years, Minister of Justice for almost 5 years, and I have had political confrontations, but in almost 15 years of political activity, I have never voted for something that conflicts with the citizens, with the republic, nor have I voted for the Special Court, nor the April agreement that foresees the association, and I am proud of my public actions, but it is not right to accuse me of something that I did not have, so I did not have a unifying function," Haxhiu said, among other things. /Telegraph/
