DUI says that after the increase in oil prices, the Ministry of Economy and the Government have remained silent and have not taken any concrete measures.

"For a week now, citizens have been facing a continuous increase in the prices of basic products and petroleum products. During this period, the Ministry of Economy and the Government have remained silent, without any concrete measures to alleviate the pressure on family budgets."

"A new increase in fuel prices is expected from Monday. This will have a direct effect on the prices of transportation, food and services, further increasing the cost of living for citizens and businesses. In such a situation, the role of institutions is to act. So far, we have seen neither a plan nor measures to stabilize the market and protect the purchasing power of citizens."

"The Democratic Union for Integration considers that there are immediate steps that can be taken: Linear increase in salaries of 3500 denars, starting with the salaries of March; Temporary freezing of prices for basic food products; Activation of state oil reserves, which were purchased at a price lower than 70 denars per liter, to cushion the market shock; Voucher of 3000 denars for employees working outside their place of residence, to compensate for the increase in transportation costs."

"These are feasible measures that can be taken immediately if there is institutional will. Citizens need a quick response and economic policies that protect them in times of crisis. Institutional silence is not the answer to rising prices," say the DUI. /Telegrafi/
