OpenAI has added several new features to its flagship product, ChatGPT, and has introduced support for Apple Music as well as improved image generation capabilities.
Apple Music can be added to ChatGPT through the Settings section of the Mac app, the web page, or the iOS app. Apple Music appears under the Apps option, and connecting to it requires logging in with your Apple account for authorization.
ChatGPT can be used to search the Apple Music catalog for songs, artists, albums, and playlists, even without an Apple Music subscription. OpenAI says that all users can discover music, generate playlists, and listen to song snippets directly in ChatGPT.
Apple Music subscribers can add songs, albums, and playlists to their library through ChatGPT. Once Apple Music is added to ChatGPT, it can be selected by pressing the "+" button. Playlists and suggestions that ChatGPT generates can be opened directly in Apple Music.
In addition to support for Apple Music, ChatGPT now has better image generation capabilities. ChatGPT Images can generate images up to four times faster and can edit images with precision, preserving detail. OpenAI says ChatGPT can modify only the details the user wants to update, keeping lighting, composition, and the appearance of people consistent across inputs, outputs, and changes.
The "brilliant" new model can add, remove, combine, blend, and create more realistic image creations using real photos. It's better at adding text to images and changing the placement of elements, and OpenAI says it follows instructions more reliably than the previous-generation version.
With this update, the ability to generate some specific artistic styles, like anime, has dropped and it's no longer as good at editing images with multiple people, but OpenAI says that using preset filters can help, and the previous version of the image generator remains available for use.
ChatGPT Images, the image editing experience built into ChatGPT, includes dozens of preset styles and prompts for users to try out. It is available on the mobile app and on the web.
