Charlize Theron spoke several times about the life tragedy, but never so openly. She has admitted that she is grateful to her mother after she saved her life.
Based on Charlizet's charming mannerisms many might think that she comes from a rich and happy family and had a fairytale childhood. However, her story is completely different and could serve as a script for a thriller film, Telegrafi reports.
"My mother is a wonderful person. I know all the kids say it and it sounds trite, but I have a right to say it too. My mother saved my life," said Charlize.
"I knew something bad was going to happen, I just had this feeling," added the actress.

When he got home, the father started shooting, first at the fence and then at the kitchen door.
He managed to break the door and entered the house. He stood in front of Charlize's room and angrily slammed the door.
"Tonight I will kill both of them", he shouted while holding the gun.
When she saw him, she took the gun from him, where she then shot her husband and wounded her brother.

A year after the tragedy, Charlize moved to Milan, Italy and started a career as a model.
A few months later she went to Hollywood with, as she says, "a suitcase full of dreams" and $400 in her wallet. /Telegraph/
