The Kosovo Food and Veterinary Agency (KFVA) has announced the immediate withdrawal from the market of several Aptamil brand baby food products, due to suspicions of the presence of a dangerous toxin.

According to the AUVA, several official notifications have been received through the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) regarding the presence of the Cereulide toxin in infant formula milk produced in Germany, the Netherlands and Ireland.


"The official notifications from RASFF are: notification no. 2026.0663, which concerns the presence of Cereulide toxin in infant formula produced in Germany, notification no. 2026.1018 for products produced in the Netherlands, and notification no. 2026.1017 for infant formula and formulae for medical purposes produced in Ireland," the AUVA press release states.

The agency announces that, due to the serious level of risk, in cooperation with the importing company UNION sh.pk, from Vushtrri, urgent measures have been taken to remove these products from the Kosovo market.

"Due to the level of risk considered serious, the AUVA, in cooperation with the importing company, is taking immediate measures to withdraw these products from the market," the announcement further states.

The AUV has called on all businesses to immediately stop selling these products, while consumers are asked not to use them.

"Consumers who possess such products should not use them and return them to the relevant points of sale," the Agency emphasizes.

Finally, the FVA reiterates its commitment to continuous market monitoring, emphasizing that it will continue with preventive and control measures to guarantee food safety and protect the health of citizens in Kosovo. /Telegrafi/
