"Broken Heart" Syndrome - dying of separation boredom!

Heartbreak is a real condition that mimics a heart attack due to the sudden emotional stressors it brings.

While it's hard to recover from a broken heart, most of us think of it as just a temporary mental affliction—one that passes with time. But the mental anguish that separation causes can have far-reaching effects – both mentally and physically.

Experts say that having a broken heart can cause many health effects, especially when the brain processes it as trauma.

If people are not able to process it in normal behavior with a therapist or by taking time to treat and heal themselves, they can have very high levels of stress.

In fact, there is even a disease known as "broken heart syndrome" - which research says can, in some cases, be deadly, reports the Telegraph.

What is this syndrome?

Also known as takotsubo syndrome, this syndrome is when the heart's left ventricle – the main one that pumps blood – weakens and enlarges, meaning it doesn't pump properly.

This disease is very rare, and it affects more women than men. Although this syndrome can be caused by physical trauma, such as an asthma attack, it can also often be caused by emotional stress, as a result of the death of a relative or the loss of a loved one.

The three most common symptoms of broken heart disease are sudden, sharp chest pain, shortness of breath, and fainting.

The risk appears to be greater when the cause is a hemorrhagic stroke, epileptic seizure, severe asthma attack, severe bleeding, hypoglycemia, high fever, etc.

The syndrome can make you feel like you're having a heart attack, where you'll experience chest pain and trouble breathing. /Telegraph/
