CBK publishes guidelines for identifying fake coins

The Central Bank of Kosovo has published the guidelines for identification of banknotes and coins, original euro from fake ones.
CBK, within the framework of Financial Education, has drawn up manuals that show the technical features and security features of euro banknotes and coins.
Likewise, the Governing Board of the Central Bank of Kosovo has given the green light for a new regulation related to the management of cash.
In this context, the institution announced that the regulation will enter into force on February 1 of this year, and will put new restrictions on the circulation of the 500-euro banknote, making it inadmissible for recirculation. Financial institutions are obliged to stop offering the existing currency card in this value.
The Central Bank has also emphasized that the import and export of foreign currency must be done exclusively through licensed financial institutions, to guarantee control over currencies entering and leaving the country.
In particular, to prevent the risks of counterfeit money, any natural or legal person not operating in the financial sector must declare the holding of more than 100 monetary units, and it is not allowed to operate cash deposit or withdrawal machines without authorization from the Central Bank.
