Big drop in car sales at the end of 2021

In December 2021, the number of new cars registered in the European Union was 22,8% lower compared to the same month in 2020.
During the last month of last year, 795.295 vehicles were delivered, which is the sixth consecutive month in which there was a decrease, announced the Association of European Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA).
Most of the region's markets experienced double-digit percentage declines, including the top four: Italy (-27,5%), Germany (-26,9%), Spain (-18,7%) and France (-15,1 %).
The only EU new car markets to grow last month were Bulgaria, Croatia, Latvia and Slovenia.
Overall, in 2021 new car sales in the EU fell by 2.4% to 9.7 million vehicles, despite the record low 2020 it was compared to. That is, during the spring of 2020, practically the entire continent was in isolation.
This drop was largely the result of a chip shortage that negatively affected car production during the 2021 division, but especially in the second half of the year.
If we compare 2019, a year before the pandemic, the decline is even more dramatic. Last year, the total number of new car registrations in the EU was 3.3 million less than in 2019. /Telegraph/
