The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) has published on its official website the list of the best players of all time, arousing numerous reactions in the football world.

Argentine star Lionel Messi topped the list as the best in history, but did not provide further details.

Although the IFFHS has not provided details on the ranking methodology, the selection of names clearly shows the influence and achievements of each of them in world football.

Brazilian Pelé came in second place, and Argentine Diego Armando Maradona came in third.

In fourth place is Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, ranking lower than the three names highlighted above.

Dutchman Johan Cruyff in fifth, while Brazilian magician Ronaldo Nazário is in sixth.

In seventh place is Frenchman Zinedine Zidane, in eighth was German Franz Beckenbauer. The top 10 list is closed by Alfredo Di Stéfano and Ronaldinho.

While the list includes the most influential names in football history, other iconic figures such as Michel Platini, Ference Puscas, George Best, Paolo Maldini, Xavi Hernandez and Andrés Iniesta are not listed in the top 10, despite leaving an indelible mark on the most beautiful game in the world. /Telegraph/
