The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, assessed today that the opening of the last group of negotiation chapters marks an important moment in Albania's journey towards membership in the European Union.

The Head of State also underlined that this opens a new phase of deeper reforms in agriculture, food security, regional development and resource management.

Albania and the European Union held today in Brussels the 7th Intergovernmental Conference to open the last group of negotiating chapters.

At the 7th Intergovernmental Conference with the EU, negotiations were opened on Chapter Group 5 "Resources, Agriculture and Cohesion", including Chapters 11 (agriculture and rural development), 12 (food safety, veterinary and phytosanitary), 13 (fisheries and aquaculture), 22 (regional policy and coordination of structural instruments) and 33 (financial and budgetary provisions).

This is the final group-chapter of negotiations that our country is opening with the European Union on the path towards EU membership.
