Android has further consolidated its status as the leading operating system in the world, according to data published by research companies such as Gartner and Millenial Media.
Gartner Research today reported that manufacturers have already shipped more than 36.3 million Android-based devices in the first quarter of 2011, or 5.2 million more devices than in the same period last year.
Furthermore, Android has almost quadrupled its share of the mobile device market, rising from 9.6 percent in Q1 2010 to 36 percent in Q1 2011.
However, it is expected that this year will also be good for the Android platform, as well-known manufacturers such as HTC, Samsung, Alcatel, Sony Ericsson, and Motorola are preparing new models of their mobile devices on Android. / Telegraph /
