The Vetevendosje Movement had only 57 votes today in its fifth attempt to constitute the highest legislative institution, and for the third time Albulena Haxhiu did not receive sufficient support to ascend to the head of the Assembly of the Republic.
This was also the topic discussed by analysts on Kosovo's public television.
Fatime Hajdari, an analyst, said that this situation has begun to create a kind of irritation among citizens. According to her, the only solution to unblock this situation would be new elections.
"We are in the same situation, in a vicious circle. The best idea would be to unblock, at least to break the blockade regarding the speaker of the assembly, to move forward and set a date for new elections. No one is in favor of elections after elections, but nevertheless, in the situation we are in, where everything is being repeated, the solution would be elections," she said.
Meanwhile, Besa Luzha, an analyst on the RTK Prime panel, said she was surprised by the position of the Vetëvendosje Movement. She said she expected the winning party to change its approach and try to align itself with other parties, since it needs votes.
"Politics is the art of the possible and definitely has compromise and agreement at its core. When you have an interest in making an agreement with someone, you don't go around accusing them constantly, because with that approach you just push them away. Then it seems like you don't want to go to the end of the process. It's up to the winner to reach out to find a solution," Luzha said.
According to Luzha, small entities are taking advantage of the momentum and trying to have maximalist demands, but he said that LVV has shown itself to be principled in this regard.
"As much as she needed Nisma's votes, she was not willing to compromise to the extent of giving her the position of speaker of parliament," she said.
Analyst Muhamet Hajrullahu said that Vetëvendosje and Albulena Haxhiu do not have votes and this, according to him, should be accepted.
"Let's not forget, it is a failure for the third time and it must be accepted. There are no numbers, we should not make it flourish. Vetëvendosje has 57 votes out of 59 together with all communities. What we have seen today, I think, is a deadlock, uncertainty about the continuation of the process, deep political division, there are no laws in the parliament, there are no international agreements, there is no dialogue with Serbia, there is no integration of Kosovo and no membership in any institution, because there is no one to lobby," Hajrullahu said on RTK Prime.
