"The collision was terrible" - details revealed about the train derailment in Spain, which left ten dead

Ten people are reported to have died after a train derailed in Spain, according to Spanish media.

More than 25 people were seriously injured, according to emergency services in Andalusia.

The incident occurred at around 19:40 p.m. local time.

A train traveling from Malaga to Madrid, with 317 people on board, derailed and crossed onto adjacent tracks, where another train also derailed, foreign media write, according to Telegraph.

Spain's transport minister, Oscar Puente, has provided more information about the accident on the X, saying that the latest information coming in is 'very serious'.

According to Puente, the last carriages of the Iryo train traveling to Madrid derailed and "invaded" the opposite tracks.

At that moment, a Renfe train was passing by, heading towards Huelva.

"The collision was horrific, causing the first two units of the Renfe train to fall to the ground as a result," he said.

"The number of casualties cannot be confirmed at this time. The primary priority now is to assist the injured."

Meanwhile, Juanma Moreno, the president of Andalusia, has provided more details to the medical teams engaged in the area.

According to him, the medical structure on the ground is treating injured passengers, providing health services and stabilizing the injured before they are transferred to the hospital.
