CNN: A US military plane crashes over Iran

A US fighter jet has crashed over Iran and a search and rescue operation is underway for any survivors, a US official told the BBC. Reuters.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, did not offer further details.
Possible rescue efforts appear to have been captured in several images posted on social media and geo-located by CNN.

It was not immediately clear where in Iran the plane crashed.
The US military and the White House have not yet commented on the situation or status of the pilots.
The incident would mark the first time a US aircraft has been shot down over Iran during the conflict.
Near the beginning of the war, three F-15 aircraft were mistakenly shot down in a friendly fire incident by Kuwaiti air defenses. /Telegraph/
