Alpine Alpenglow – hydrogen racing car, also designed for normal roads

It's hard not to write about the Alpine Alpenglow, even though it's not an electric car, it represents the future from an iconic brand. A brand which for many people is the essence of racing cars.

Alpine Alpenglow is powered by a combustion engine. Point one – the name Alpenglow is derived from the red glow from the mountains just before sunrise – this is based on the official press release.

The Alpenglow is a single-seater racing car powered by a hydrogen-burning engine, and it's a clear sign that Alpine is committed to a zero-carbon, zero-emissions future, but not necessarily an all-electric future, reports Arena Ev, the Telegraph reports.

The Alpine A110 E-ternitè proves that the company is not moving away from electric cars, and will likely continue to develop both technologies.

Designed around the chassis of a racing car, the Alpenglow bears striking similarities to the LMDh Hypercar, which Alpine will race at Le Mans 2024. The lower modules have two 700 bar hydrogen tanks, and the combustion engine is located behind the driver.

Alpenglow is 5 meters long, 2 meters wide and only 1 meter high. The front lights are designed to resemble a comet entering Earth's atmosphere with small specks of light drifting along its side, while the rear lights are blue to signify hydrogen propulsion.

When it comes to the cabin, not much can be said about it. A single racing seat with also racing trim, steering wheel with buttons for Override, Track Control, Regenerative Braking and two pedals.

The car is painted Alpine Blue as it seems no other color can match that car, carbon fiber is used extensively throughout the chassis and the F1-like shock absorber system clearly indicates that this is a track car.

Alpine insists that we can see this car on normal roads, but that belongs to a more distant future.
And if you're near Paris this weekend, then you're in luck – this car will be unveiled at the 2022 Paris Motor Show. /Telegraph/
