The acting government of Kosovo has welcomed the European Union's decision to lift the measures imposed on Kosovo, which it says were unfair from the beginning.

According to the Government, the country's institutions were not the cause of the escalation of the situation in the four northern municipalities, while the de-escalation of the situation is their merit.

"Meanwhile, the Republic of Kosovo and its institutions became the target of terrorist attacks, including the incident in Banjska, Zvečan on September 24, 2023, where police sergeant Afrim Bunjaku lost his life, and the attack on the Ibër-Lepenc canal in Varaga, Zubin Potok on November 29, 2024. Indictments have already been filed for these cases," it was said at the Government meeting.

The government has also announced that any attempt to violate the rule of law would have its own consequences, while the stability and functioning of institutions in the north is the result of respect for the law and public order.

The government stated that despite the difficulties, it has remained committed to European integration and meeting the criteria for membership.

According to the Government, the largest financial measures were not imposed by the European Union, but by the parliamentary opposition, which prevented the vote on the EU Growth Plan and agreements with the World Bank, with a total value of over 1 billion euros.

In addition, the Government has also announced other decisions: confirmation of the implementation of CEFTA decisions and protocols, the establishment of the Professional Commission for the erection of the Jashari Family Memorial and the KLA Epic in the Municipality of Hora e Arbëreshëve in Italy, as well as the allocation of 1.65 million euros for the first group of students benefiting from the Mobility Scholarship Program.

"This memorial will be a donation from the Government to the Arbëresh in Italy, while the scholarships aim to reduce inequalities and create opportunities for students from the most remote areas," the statement says.

In conclusion, the Government welcomed its compatriots to their homeland and assured that institutions, starting with border police, will be ready to welcome and serve citizens. /Telegraph/
