Alibaba Group is investing in Snapchat in a deal that values the popular messaging app at $15 billion.
The Chinese e-commerce giant has invested $200 million in Snapchat, according to two people familiar with the transaction.
But the value of the Snapchat deal sees the latter as a business worth $15 billion, a significant lift to the app's valuation.
Previously, Snapchat had raised funding from at least two investors, Yahoo and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, in a funding round that valued Snapchat at $10 billion. (Telegraph)
