Ecuador declared a state of emergency due to the activation of the Cotopaxi volcano, near the city of Quito.

This volcano is considered one of the most dangerous in the world, and for this reason the population has been evacuated.
The volcano located at an altitude of 5,897 meters on Friday began spewing volcanic ash at a height of 8 km.

On Saturday, a mixture of volcanic gases, ash and stones started coming out of the volcano, TetovaSot reports.

"400 people have been evacuated who live near the volcano," Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa said in his weekly radio and television address.

Cotopaxi is one of the eight active volcanoes in Ecuador, and scientists consider it one of the most dangerous in the world, due to the large amount of snow at the top and because people live near it.
