The Electronic Communications Agency has decided that the company "One Macedonia Telecommunications", owned by the Hungarian group 4iG, is the most favorable bidder in the tender for the selection of the third mobile operator in the country.

With this decision, the 10-day deadline for the payment of a one-time compensation of over 8 million euros for the three frequency bands begins.

After payment, the company can obtain a license and immediately start operating, initially through existing networks until the construction of its own infrastructure. According to the terms, the new operator must start services by the end of 2026 and gradually provide 5G coverage in all cities by 2030.

AKE estimates that the entry of the third operator will increase competition and will influence the reduction of mobile service prices.
