Actor Can Yaman talks about his origins and favorite Albanian foods

Can Yaman is considered to be one of the most popular actors in Turkey, who has become famous for the Albanian public thanks to several projects he has played.

However, he achieved the greatest fame with the series "Erkenc Kus" or (Early Bird), as he plays alongside the actress Demet Ozdemir.

Recently, Yaman gave an interview for the show "Greater fun than Istanbul" with Linda Imami, where he talks about his Albanian origins and also about traditional foods.

"On my father's side, I am of Albanian descent from Prishtina. My grandfather grew up in Pristina, my grandmother in Skopje. In 1959 we came to Istanbul. Relatives from my father speak Albanian. Distant cousins, because I haven't met them, I don't know them. Relatives like my father's uncles, my grandmother's brothers. They always speak Albanian. Even my grandfather and grandmother know Albanian. There are even cases where they speak Albanian. But I grew up more from my mother's side", said Yaman.

Furthermore, he also talked about favorite Albanian foods.

"It has to do with what you grow up with and you continue to enjoy the taste of it later. I don't exchange my grandmother's food for anything. She makes such a pie that lasts 3 hours. I open the dumplings myself. Make leek pie. It makes it finger licking good. Makes pies with yogurt, garlic, salsa, cuts the meat into pieces.
