Official from Prime Minister Albin Kurti's cabinet, Jeton Zulfaj, has reacted regarding the debate on the vacant mandate of MPs and the process of electing the president in Kosovo.

Through a post on social media, Zulfaj said that although the mandate of MPs is vacant, last year the Constitutional Court of Kosovo had issued orders for MPs to be present at the session and vote.

"For those who are saying that the mandate of deputies is free. Of course, BUT the court did not ask about this freedom last year. It issued orders for deputies to be present at the session and vote," he wrote.

According to Zulfaj, the same standard should be applied to the current situation regarding the continuation of the session to elect the president.

He stressed that if the Constitutional Court does not decide to continue the session where it left off, ordering the deputies to be present and vote "for", "against" or "abstain", then its decisions risk losing weight and authority.
