Zelensky says Ukraine will not join US-Russia talks in Saudi Arabia

Ukraine will not participate in this week's talks between the US and Russia in Saudi Arabia on ending the war in Ukraine.

Thus, as reported by the media, President Volodymyr Zelensky said, according to the Telegraph.

"Ukraine will not participate. Ukraine knew nothing about this," he told reporters during a conference call from the United Arab Emirates, where he was on a state visit.

"Ukraine considers any negotiations about Ukraine without Ukraine to be fruitless and we cannot recognize... any agreement about us without us," he was quoted as saying.

Zelensky added that he will visit Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.

"Secretary of State (Marco) Rubio, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff will meet with the Russian delegation in Riyadh on Tuesday," US State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said in a statement.

The US statement came moments after the Kremlin announced that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov would meet with US officials in the Saudi capital. /Telegraph/
