Ukraine is serious about ending the war, while Russia carried out a massive attack even on the day the talks in Geneva took place.
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky in his evening video address, Ukrinform reports, according to Telegraph.
"Later today, there will be a report from the delegation after the first round of talks in Geneva. The team absolutely must raise the issue of these attacks - first of all with the American side, which proposed that both we and Russia refrain from attacks. Ukraine is ready. We do not need war. And we always act symmetrically - we are defending our state and independence. Likewise, we are ready to move quickly towards a fair agreement to end the war. The only question is for the Russians: what do they want?...", Zelensky said.
He stressed that Russia responded to the start of another round of talks in Geneva with an attack.
"This shows very clearly what Russia wants and what it is really determined to do. Almost 400 drones were launched," the Ukrainian president announced.
According to him, recovery and rescue operations continue in Odessa after last night's attacks.
"There were major power outages in the city and in the surrounding communities of the Odessa region. People were also left without heating and water. Unfortunately, to this moment, the restoration has not yet been completed - the work is ongoing. I instructed that Odessa be provided with all necessary support and that recovery efforts be accelerated," the Ukrainian Head of State said.
Zelensky also praised the work of Ukraine's air defense forces: "29 missiles of various types were shot down and 25 were shot down. This is an important result for our air defense and once again, we emphasize that air defense is an everyday necessity. I thank all our partners who understand this."
