Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and French President Emmanuel Macron today signed a declaration of intent to cooperate in the defense sector.

Zelensky confirmed that Ukraine intends to purchase 100 Rafale fighter jets manufactured by the French company Dassault.

These are 4.5 generation aircraft that are considered one of the most advanced European aircraft.

Otherwise, Zelensky landed at an air base near Paris earlier today, where he was received by Macron before the signing ceremony.

During his visit to the Villacoublay air base, Zelensky inspected advanced French weapons, including Rafale fighter jets and the SAMP/T air defense system.

Paris has been a key ally of Ukraine since the outbreak of the full-scale invasion in 2022 and has sent the Ukrainians Mirage 2000 fighter jets, artillery, long-range SCALP missiles, and more.

Zelensky's trip is part of a tour among European allies as he seeks to bolster support for Kiev in the face of the coming winter and Russian attacks on Ukraine's power grid. /Telegraph/
