Yakin talks about Xhaka and the victory over the Serbs: I have never been in such a situation, our journey is not over yet

Switzerland has achieved a great victory over Serbia 3-2, to pass to the 1/8 finals in the World Cup.

Xherdan Shaqiri, Breel Embolo and Remo Freuler took care to bring the Serbs to their knees and give Switzerland three points.

After the match, the coach of Switzerland, Murat Yakin, spoke, describing it as a very big victory.

"In the first half we had a little weakness and made two mistakes, but then we reacted well and managed to win. We knew that Serbia had to attack, so they had to play more with an attacking player."

"That's why new areas were opened up for us in attack. You played with five midfielders and four defenders, there is always a gap. So it was always difficult to find a balance between offense and defense," said Yakin.

Yakin also spoke about Granit Xhaka, saying that he is too smart to play in front of the defense.

"Granit is smart enough to position himself in front of the defense when in possession. All midfielders have enough experience to decide for themselves. I didn't need a fixed specification."

"In the end, I mainly wanted to calm the players down. Of course we learned from our mistakes, communicated and did good preparatory work before this game. After the match, there is such a satisfied emptiness. You sit in the training room and let the players celebrate," Yakin said.

The Swiss coach further stated that he has never been in such a situation and that Switzerland's journey will not end there.
