Xabi Alonso wants €100m to complete two defensive signings for Real Madrid

Coach Xabi Alonso plans to invest around €100m in Real Madrid's defence this summer, having already announced he will leave Bayer Leverkusen at the end of this season.

Multiple reports have stated that Alonso will replace Carlo Ancelotti at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, although there has been no official confirmation yet.

Alonso is expected to be announced as Los Blancos' new coach soon. Now it seems the Basque is already planning to strengthen his defense before the start of the new season.

According to local media in Madrid, Los Blancos are now eyeing two defenders at the request of the future coach.

The first name on the Kings' wish list is Dean Huijsen, Bournemouth's Spanish centre-back, who has attracted attention this season.

The 20-year-old is also wanted by Chelsea and Liverpool, but has apparently set his heart on a move to the Santiago Bernabeu. The player is said to have a €58m release clause in his deal, which can be paid in three instalments over 18 months.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are also looking to add more quality to the left-back position this year. The La Liga giants have identified Alvaro Carreras as an improvement on Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia.

Carreras spent three years in Los Blancos' academy before moving to Manchester United in 2020.

He has been in excellent form since leaving the Red Devils for good last summer to join Benfica.

The 22-year-old has a €50 million release clause in his contract. /Telegraph/
