Meryem Yilmaz Jarada, 14, from Gaza, who was sent to Ankara on the orders of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan after making a plea on social media to see her mother, who has been receiving treatment in Turkey for two years, is experiencing the joy of being reunited with her.

Jarada, a high school student, with a Turkish mother and a Palestinian father, was born in Gaza, under the Israeli blockade.

Meryema's mother was brought to Ankara for treatment for a brain tumor just two months before the attacks launched by Israel in October 2023.

Separated from her mother during her treatment and struggling to survive under bombardment with her father and siblings, the 14-year-old and her family made numerous attempts to get to Turkey, but without success.

Meryem, who had dreamed of the day she would be reunited with her mother for two years, recently posted a video on social media appealing to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for help.

And Meryema's call did not go unanswered.

Following President Erdogan's instructions, Turkish authorities took action and ensured that the girl and her siblings were sent to Turkey.

Noting that they faced numerous challenges in Gaza, from hunger to security, Meryem said: "On the one hand there was war and, on the other hand, the absence of my mother... Of course, everything was very difficult, but thank God, God helped us and we finally managed to come to Turkey and reunite with my mother." /AA/
