Wildlife care center workers wear bear costumes to feed two-month-old cub

Workers at a wildlife care and treatment center in California donned bear costumes to feed and care for a 2-month-old bear cub.

The San Diego Humane Society said the cub, the youngest bear to ever be their patient, was found wandering alone in the Los Padres National Forest on April 12, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife was unable to find his mother to facilitate a reunion.

"He arrived weak and underweight, but thanks to 24-hour nutrition, expert medical care and a serious and good commitment from our team, he is now stable and developing well," the association said on social media.

The post included a video of the bear being cared for by team members in bear costumes. The center said the workers “mimic the mother’s behaviors and prevent the bear from bonding with people.”

The goal is to eventually return the bear to the wild once it is old enough to survive on its own. /Telegraph
