Why shouldn't you look at the clock if you wake up in the middle of the night?

Sleep is one of the basic needs of the human body and plays a vital role in maintaining physical and mental health.

During sleep, the body and brain regenerate, memory improves, the immune system is strengthened, and the energy necessary for daily functioning is restored.

Understanding the importance of sleep and following good habits for quality rest are essential for our overall well-being.

However, everyone may have woken up in the middle of the night.

Waking up in the middle of the night is a natural occurrence, but when you can't get back to sleep it can be frustrating.

It's common for people with insomnia to check their clocks every time they wake up. This is known as clock-watching or time-monitoring behavior (TMB), which research suggests can increase brain stimulation and worsen feelings of insomnia anxiety.

But you don't have to do this.

Remove the clock from your room as it helps reduce your feelings of anxiety related to sleep.

Alternatively, if you need an alarm in your room, you can turn the clock back to avoid looking at it when you wake up in the night. /Telegraph/
