Who was the Macedonian singer who died saving others from a fire in a Kocani discotheque?

A serious tragedy struck North Macedonia, where a devastating fire at the Pulse nightclub in Kocani claimed the lives of at least 59 people.

Among the victims was Andrej Gorgievski, one of the founders of the famous hip-hop group DNK.

According to witnesses, Gorgievski initially managed to escape the burning building, but returned inside to save others.

Unfortunately, part of the ceiling collapsed on him, trapping him along with dozens of other people, including minors who had come for the concert.

He left behind a grieving family and his ten-year-old daughter, Jana. His body was identified by his wife and mother before being sent for an autopsy.

Who was Andrej Gorgievski?
Born and raised in Skopje, Andrej Gorgievski was one of the leading figures in Macedonian hip-hop. He founded DNK in the early 2000s together with Vladimir Blažev (Pancho), who survived the fire but is in hospital with severe burns.

Gorgievski was the author of many hits for DNK, a group known for social themes, friendship and love in their lyrics. Some of the group's most popular songs are Fala, Ako utre me nema, Srce, Amajlija and Romani.

The famous Macedonian singer Kaliopi dedicated a touching post to him on social media: "Andrej... My heart is breaking. Your humanism shone even in the last moments, saving lives. It shouldn't have been like this... I feel sad and angry."

The tragedy also affected other members of the band DNK. In addition to Andrej, the deaths of keyboardist Filip Stefanovski, guitarist Aleksandar Kolarov, drummer Gorđi Gorđiev and backing vocalist Sara Projkovska were confirmed. Also among the victims were beatboxer Martin Atanasovski (Martin Buco) and Igor Velkov, another drummer of the band.

With 500 people present at the Pulse club at the time of the fire, authorities are investigating the causes of the tragedy, while the country is mourning the loss of some of the most beloved artists of the Macedonian music scene. /Telegraph/
