When is the right time for your child's first walk?

Many parents wonder when is the right time to take their newborn for a walk for the first time.

Although there is a custom for babies to be kept indoors for the first 40 days of life, this period is not a strict rule, but rather a recommendation based on the needs of mothers who were recovering from childbirth for a longer period of time.

If you feel well and are ready, you don't have to wait a full 40 days to go out with your baby. It's important to start walking gradually. The first walk should not last more than 10 minutes.

Each subsequent walk can last five minutes longer than the previous one. Also, in the first few months, walks should not be longer than one to two hours, as the baby still needs a lot of rest.

Of course, it is important that the baby is fed and dressed according to the weather conditions. If it is summer, care should be taken to ensure that the baby is not exposed to excessive sunlight, as this can lead to burns. It is recommended that walks be taken in the morning, before 11 am, or in the evening, after 18 pm, when the sun is less intense.

You should also pay attention to weather conditions. In the winter months, when it is cold, it may be better to wait a few weeks before taking your baby outside. Likewise, if it is very windy, rainy, or if there is a high concentration of polluting gases in the air, walks are not recommended, especially for newborns.

Through these simple tips, parents can safely and stress-free enjoy walks with their newborns, while respecting the baby's needs and environmental conditions.
