What is the acoustic cannon that was apparently used last night during the Belgrade protests?

The sound that echoed last night during the Belgrade protests caused panic in the crowd, and demonstrators and some analysts are convinced it was an acoustic cannon used to disperse the masses.

The acoustic cannon is a non-lethal weapon, it emits strong acoustic waves in a specific direction and can cause headaches, nausea, disorientation in affected persons, but a possible consequence is permanent hearing damage, reports the Telegraph.

An acoustic cannon is a device that uses strong sound waves to achieve certain effects, usually for crowd control, deterring birds, or destroying missiles.

There are several types of acoustic balls, and their use depends on the frequency and volume of sound they produce.

One of them is a high-frequency acoustic cannon used for military and police purposes for riot control, repelling attacks, or long-distance communication.

They emit extremely loud and directional sound waves that can cause pain, disorientation, and temporary hearing loss in humans.

In addition, there are acoustic bird control balls that emit low-frequency explosive sounds to drive birds away from airports, farms or industrial plants, as well as those that produce low-frequency sounds that can cause discomfort, anxiety and even physical effects.

Such devices have been researched for military purposes, but their effectiveness has not been fully confirmed.

Acoustic balls can cause discomfort, earache, disorientation, nausea, and dizziness, and long-term exposure can damage hearing or cause other health problems.

We recall that the Serbian police said they did not use this ball because it was prohibited. /Telegraph/
