"We've taken your husband hostage, we want two million lek", police arrest five people in Tirana after money transfer

A serious incident occurred the day before in Tirana - five people took a 68-year-old man hostage and called his wife, demanding 2 million lek to release him.

Terrified by the phone call, the woman, according to the police, handed over around 1 million 700 thousand lek in the Sauk area, while the police immediately launched an investigation.

It is learned that 5 people identified as Sulejman Sina, Klinton Sina, Idajet Mashollari, Bajram Ibraliu, and Nikoleta Begolli have been arrested in this case.


"They forcibly took and held hostage a 68-year-old man in a suburban area, and threatened his wife, in order to take 2 lek. Five citizens who collaborated in committing this crime were arrested a few hours later."

1 lek are seized from the amount that the wife gave to these citizens.

Immediately after information provided by police intelligence that on 29.04.2025, some citizens had forcibly taken a citizen, whom they had held hostage and in exchange for his freedom they had taken a large sum of money, specialists from the Serious Crimes Investigation Sector organized the work to identify and arrest the perpetrators.

As a result of quick and professional actions, carried out within the framework of the "Imediat" operation, 5 suspected citizens implicated in this case were arrested, specifically: citizens SS, 31 years old, KS, 21 years old (brothers), IM, 21 years old, BI, 57 years old and NB, 32 years old, all residents of Tirana, A2cnn reports.

From the investigations, the video footage and the evidence obtained, it has resulted that citizens SS, KS and IM, on “George W. Bush” street, have forcibly taken citizen EA, 68 years old, into a vehicle and held hostage, in an abandoned apartment in the village of Kakunjë. And then they called his wife, whom they blackmailed for the life of the 68-year-old, demanding the sum of 2 lek. This sum was handed over to citizen BI, in the Sauk area.

Following the actions to fully clarify the incident, searches were carried out in the homes of these citizens as well as in a vehicle in which citizen SS and citizen NB were traveling, where 1 lek suspected of having been obtained through threats from the wife of citizen EA were found and seized.

"The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action," the police announced.
