The candidate of the Vetëvendosje Movement for mayor of Pristina, Hajrulla Çeku, said that they achieved a very good result in the local elections of October 12. He said that they have completed the first step of their commitment to continue in the run-off, KosovaPress reports.

According to the results of the vote counting so far by the Central Election Commission, Çeku is in a close race with the LDK candidate, Përparim Rama.

In a press conference held around midnight, Çeku said that they take the competition very seriously and that they do not underestimate anyone.

"This is a very good result. It is our first step towards our great victory in Pristina. All our structures are mobilized. From tomorrow the work continues until the day when the run-off is held, we will meet the citizens again, we will explain our vision to them because we have seen that the citizens' disposition for a big change in Pristina exists... We do not underestimate anyone, we take this race very seriously, but we are convinced of victory. We have also seen this enthusiasm in the citizens. We ask for the support of all citizens, and we ask for a coalition with the citizens to make a change in Pristina", he said.

He also had some commitments.

"What I can assure you from now on is that I will not use the word 'blockade' towards my government, I will not make excuses. When I cannot push a task forward, I will take responsibility. I will govern responsibly and with an invitation for cooperation. Efforts for maximum consensus, efforts until the end. However, where I do not succeed, I will not blame anyone for the failure, but will take responsibility for myself. When the head of the municipality has the will to push things forward, the solution is always found. I propose a more moderate approach, an approach that attempts to bring people closer and not to create divisions in the local government of Pristina," said Çeku.

He also focused on the results of the LVV in other municipalities, saying that they are the only ones who have reconfirmed in the municipalities where they have governed and that they are the first without a runoff in Podujeva, Kamenica and Shtime. He emphasized that they are also waiting for the results in Gjilan. Çeku added that for this reason, the president of the LVV, Albin Kurti, will hold a press conference tomorrow at 10:00.
