Manager Mikel Arteta has admitted that Arsenal are still "far from perfect", despite the comfortable leads his team have built in both the Premier League and the Champions League.

The Gunners start the weekend with a seven-point lead at the top of the Premier League, although that gap could be reduced to four points by the time they host Manchester United on Sunday.

In parallel, Arsenal also leads the Champions League, with three points more than their pursuers, while the midweek victory over Inter has mathematically secured their place in the top two of the 36-team standings.

Pep Guardiola has named Arsenal as the most outstanding team in England, with Opta's prediction model suggesting the Londoners have a 93.1 per cent chance of winning the Premier League title. However, Arteta has warned that his team is not yet a finished product.

"I don't know, I think we're a team that constantly wants to improve. We're doing a lot of things right, but we're far from perfect."

"Our only goal is to maintain the level we have achieved and try to improve again."

"You can see more and more one-on-one matches taking over not only the Premier League but also Europe. If we want to have a chance of winning big trophies, we have to dominate all phases of the game."

Sunday's clash with Manchester United sees Arteta face an opponent he has won eight of his 12 Premier League games against. However, there is also a precedent that reminds Arsenal that nothing is certain.

Michael Carrick's first and only win as Manchester United's interim manager in the Premier League came against Arteta's Arsenal, with a 3-2 success at Old Trafford in December 2021.Telegrafi
