Volkswagen presents three new concept vehicles at Auto Shanghai

Volkswagen presented three new concept vehicles at the Shanghai Auto Show, the fruit of cooperation with its Chinese partners.

The ID. AURA (FAW – Volkswagen), ID. ERA (SAIC – Volkswagen) and ID. EVO (Volkswagen – Anhui) models represent the new generation of intelligent electric vehicles and provide a glimpse of the production offensive to come in the coming years.

Volkswagen plans to launch more than 30 new models by the end of 2027 (including 20 electric vehicles) in the most important segments of the Chinese market.

The ID. ERA model is the result of cooperation between SAIC and Volkswagen; it is a spacious SUV with three rows of seats and is the first Volkswagen model to use range extender technology.

A fuel-powered generator charges the battery while driving and provides an increase in range of over 700 kilometers. With a range of 300 kilometers in electric mode, this concept vehicle can travel more than 1000 kilometers in total.

At Auto Shanghai, Volkswagen sales director Martin Sander told reporters that this technology will also be brought to Europe.

The technology itself was once quite popular (one of the most famous examples is the Opel Ampera), but then disappeared from the market, while now it is making a comeback (an example is the Mazda CX-30). The main goal is to eliminate the concern of electric vehicle users regarding autonomy limitations. /Telegraph/
