Volkswagen introduces three new models in China

Volkswagen unveiled three new ID concept vehicles at the Shanghai Auto Show.

AURA, ID. ERA and ID. EVO, which announces a production offensive in the Chinese market, reports the Telegraph.

These vehicles, created in collaboration with Chinese partners, are part of the ambitious "in China, for China" strategy that foresees the launch of more than 30 new models by 2027, including 20 NEV (New Energy Vehicle) models.

Thomas Schäfer, CEO of the Volkswagen brand, emphasized the importance of these innovations.

"These three concept vehicles are the visible result of our 'in China, for China' strategy. We have made all the necessary preparations to remain in a leading position among foreign automakers in China," added Schäfer.

ERA

The ERA, jointly developed by SAIC and Volkswagen, is a spacious three-seat SUV that features innovative range-extending technologies. This vehicle combines the benefits of electric propulsion with the convenience of extended range.

The fuel-powered generator charges the battery while driving, providing an additional 700 kilometers with 300 kilometers of electric range, enabling a total autonomy of an impressive 1000 kilometers.

This model demonstrates Volkswagen's commitment to developing solutions that eliminate the so-called "distance anxiety" in electric vehicles.

ID.EVO

The EVO, the fruit of a collaboration between Volkswagen and Anhui, is designed with a focus on a younger urban population eager to stand out.

This all-electric SUV is based on the advanced 800 V platform, making it the first such model in Volkswagen's ID. UNYX family.

Particularly impressive is its high-performance zonal electronic architecture that enables numerous digital services and continuous improvement of the user experience through “over-the-air” updates at short intervals, which ensures that the vehicle remains technologically fresh throughout its life.

AURA

AURA, created in collaboration between FAW and Volkswagen, represents the first concept based on a specially developed compact main platform (CMP) with an electronic zonal architecture designed specifically for the Chinese market.

This electric vehicle with a sloping rear is aimed at the price-sensitive A-segment, combining modern technology with a dynamic design.

It integrates a smartphone-style user interface into the large center console, while an AI humanoid assistant enables intuitive control of vehicle functions and the infotainment system.

Thanks to high computing power based on artificial intelligence, the system for a high degree of automated driving sets new standards for intelligent driving behavior.

Volkswagen's new development center in the Chinese city of Hefei will allow the company to develop new models within 34 months, adapting to the "Chinese pace" of development.

As Thomas Ulbrich, CEO of Volkswagen China Technology Center, notes: “We will introduce the right models at the right speed and in cooperation with the right partners.” /Telegraph/
