Violence among minors, alarming - in Tirana alone 110 cases reported in 2025

Around 110 cases of conflicts between minors were reported to the police during 2025 in the Tirana district, according to data collected by A2 CNN.
In other words, every three days, the Tirana police receive a complaint where minors are involved in violent conflicts.
These events resulted in around 180 minors being prosecuted and over 20 arrested, while more than 150 children were physically harmed.
The statistics are alarming compared to 2024, as in 2025 we have an increase in the number of conflicts between minors reported to the police.
The youngest age involved in a reported conflict this year is just 10 years old, indicating the problem is growing at a very young age. According to the data, about 70% of conflicts are cases of physical violence between peers, while the rest involve the use of hard objects and in some more serious cases, even cold weapons, mainly knives.
Another worrying element is the involvement of girls in clashes between minors, around 20% of conflicts also involve teenagers.
While reports are increasing in the city, the situation in rural areas of Tirana is even more serious, as most conflicts are not reported at all, or are resolved within the community, not being recorded in official statistics.
Despite the alarming numbers, responsible institutions have not taken concrete measures to monitor, prevent, or rehabilitate children involved in violence.
Schools report repeated cases, but a functional mechanism between police, education, and social services is lacking.
In many cases, even after denunciation, children return to the same environments where the conflict began, without any psychological follow-up program or community intervention.
Meanwhile, reports collected show that many parents hesitate to contact the police for fear of stigmatizing their children or for the belief that reporting them will not bring any practical results. (A2 Television)
