Official: Vinicius Jr is announced as the winner of 2024 FIFA 'The Best' award

Vinicius Junior has been announced as the winner of the 2024 FIFA 'The Best' award at a ceremony held today (Tuesday) in Doha, Qatar. 

This triumph has seen Vinicius join an exclusive list of Brazilian legends who have received awards from FIFA since its inception in 1991. 

He will follow in the footsteps of legends such as Romario, Ronaldo Nazario (three-time winner), Rivaldo, Ronaldinho Gaucho (two-time winner) and Kaka. 


Vinicius also became the first Brazilian player to win the award as the best footballer in the world since 2007. 

As a winner of the Champions League and La Liga with Real Madrid, Vinicius was one of the main players for the Spanish giants during the 2023/2024 season. 

He appeared in 39 matches in all competitions, contributing 24 goals and 11 assists. 

Vinicius and his Real Madrid team are currently in Qatar, where tomorrow (Wednesday) they will play against Pachucas in the Intercontinental Cup final. 

The winner of this award was announced based on the following votes: 

25 percent of the votes from the captains of the national teams 

25 percent of votes from journalists 

25 percent of the votes from the selectors of the national teams 

25 percent of the votes from the fans
