Vinicius Jr gives brilliant response to Man City fans' Ballon d'Or taunts

Vinicius Junior issued a cold response to fans who were jeering him during Real Madrid's 3-2 win over Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League play-off.

The 24-year-old Brazilian was the subject of media interest at Tuesday night's match, following the chaos that ensued after he came second in the race for the Ballon d'Or in October 2024.

Ahead of last night's match, City fans displayed a banner with an image of Rodri kissing the Ballon d'Or and the words "Stop crying with your heart," seemingly a mockery of Vinicius and Real Madrid.

In addition, throughout the game, the striker was booed by the home fans with a chant of "Where's your Ballon d'Or?".

However, in the end it was Vini Jr who had the last laugh as his team scored two late goals to take a one-goal lead into the second leg next Wednesday.

After the match, Vinicius Jr gave a cool response to the banner and chants, showing that such things only motivate him.

"I saw the banner from the Man City fans... and it motivated me even more. Every time the rival fans do things, it gives me more strength to play a great game," Vinicius said after the match. /Telegraph/
